There are approximately 15,000 Ainu in the land of the rising sun, however, says that there are only 15 Ainu who can speak their own dialect perfectly. It was originally an oral language only, and then there are many documents to learn. Despite this there are many Japanese words that derive from the Ainu dialect. Nupuri (Nupuri) - Mountain (Monte)
pet (Pet) - River (Fiume)
Kamui (Kamuy) - God (Dei)
